Learn about our passionate team, and how you can help!
There are an estimated 258 million widows worldwide. Nearly 50% of them fall into poverty after their spouse dies. Even for those who do not suffer as much financially, the emotional, social, and spiritual impact of widowhood can be overwhelming. We established our organization to help widows by providing support, encouragement and information
Our amazing team of widows and widowers are dedicated to connecting, comforting, and catapulting those who have experienced one of the most devastating life events. We are continually looking for those who want to become part of our team to expand and extend our supportive community to those who need it most.
Seeing a need for intentional and effective focus on the widow, we formed our nonprofit organization to provide sensible solutions, build a supportive community, and provide resources that will help widows continue to thrive in their next phase of life.
Because widowhood is an often overlooked group in society, and is a major source of poverty, our mission is to galvanize resources and the community to assist, inform, and inspire this community. Our goal is to aid each widow/widower in pursuing the most productive, meaningful and fulfilling life that they can achieve, despite having experienced one of the most devastating life events.
Why are 50% of widows in poverty? How is it that even those who name the name of our Lord Jesus, seem to ignore the plight of the widows? You will be hard pressed to find a widow ministry in the average church. Many former wives of pastors and leaders are quickly thrown out, discarded, and mistreated upon the death of their spouse. How can this be among the redeemed? Practically every scripture that speaks about the poor, speaks about the widow. It is time for the widows to arise and for those who love them to help plead their cause! This book outlines what God has to say concerning the widow.
In a talk that's by turns heartbreaking and hilarious, writer and podcaster Nora McInerny shares her hard-earned wisdom about life and death. Her candid approach to something that will, let's face it, affect us all, is as liberating as it is gut-wrenching. Most powerfully, she encourages us to shift how we approach grief. "A grieving person is going to laugh again and smile again," she says. "They're going to move forward. But that doesn't mean that they've moved on."
